Suzanne van Zyl

Suzanne van Zyl is the owner of Biolink Attention Training Bellville and also a catalyst in the process of children reaching their true potential. She is passionate about children and understands each child’s uniqueness. Suzanne obtained her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from the North-West University (NWU) in 2010, majoring in Psychology and Physiology. She attained her Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in Psychology in 2012 from the University of South Africa (UNISA). Thereafter Suzanne decided to pursue a degree in Bachelor of Arts (Hons) (Psych) in Practical Psychometry at the University of Johannesburg which she completed in 2013. Suzanne is registered as an Independent Psychometrist at the HPCSA and is also a trained Reading Therapist. During her internship at the Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development (PsyCaD) at the University of Johannesburg she was exposed to various psychometric assessments and gained more experience while working with children of all walks of life. This is where her passion grew stronger and she realised that she wanted to steer her career in this direction. After her studies she worked in the corporate sector and for months she kept a little post-it note on her desk with the words “Let your passion be your pilot”. In 2015 she decided to open the doors of Biolink Attention Training Bellville where her passion, experience, and purpose are being brought to reality. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. We also provide resources and training toward the continuous professional development of teachers, as required by the South African Council of Educators. Study after study confirms children today are struggling more than ever before with academic, social, and behavioural issues that impact their success in school. We want to take hands with parents and teachers to ensure our children get the best support and assistance when having academic or learning challenges. We strongly believe that the role parents play in the school system should be clearly defined, and teachers should be the inspirational leaders of a diverse world. The only way we can do that, is by empowering parents and teachers. We want to generate new knowledge through a broad array of workshops, research materials, and supportive information, and use the content for classroom strategies.

As a passionate foundation phase teacher who worked as a grade 3 teacher, I want to help children achieve their full potential. I saw the struggles children faced every day, but I didn’t know why certain children struggled and others didn’t. I started working at Biolink Bloemfontein as an Executive Function Coach, and I learned so much! I finally understood the root of the problem and how we could help those children who struggle. I truly felt that this was the solution to so many challenges that parents and children experience in their everyday life. At Biolink Centres, we provide comprehensive answers, solutions, and support to children and adults diagnosed with ADHD or Executive Function Challenges. We want to work as a team with parents, teachers and the child to ensure that every child can reach their full potential. We strongly believe that parents’ role in the school system should be clearly defined, and teachers should be the inspirational leaders of a diverse world. The only way we can do that is by empowering parents and teachers. We want to share our knowledge through workshops and webinars and give every parent and teacher the tools to understand every child’s uniqueness.

Hi, my name is Catherine, a mother of four kids and I have ADD. In 2013 we immigrated from South Africa to Canada, what an amazing experience. We enjoy every moment of living in Canada, the winter months are filled with snow and Christmas lights everywhere but it’s very cold. Summertime the mountains are amazing, and the forestry makes for the most beautiful hiking areas. Over the years I’ve worked as a Support Worker for kids with behavioral problems, learning disabilities and I have fostered kids with severe traumas. I loved every moment of it and learned so much that I felt the urge to help but I didn’t know how. A couple of years ago my sister Desire Van Der Merve told me all about Biolink and it got me thinking how amazing it will be if I opened a centre in Canada. It has been a long journey, but I am officially a Biolink agent. I’m so excited about this new chapter of my life. My desire to help as many Kids/Adults as I can and even opening more center’s. ADD does not define me, it’s just a part of me. Albert Einstein said, Education is not just the learning of fact, but also, training of the mind to think. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. We also provide resources and training toward the continuous professional development of teachers, as required by die South African Council of Educators. Study after study confirms children today are struggling more than ever before with academic, social, and behavioural issues that impact their success in school. “Giving a child a chance to reach their full potential is the best work anyone can do”. To some, these words from Hilary Clinton may sound like a cliché, but to Madelein Harris, owner of Biolink Durbanville, it underlines her drive to help children by providing them with the skills that will enable them to succeed in all aspects of life. In 2014, Madelein moved to the United Kingdom and enrolled in a course to become a teaching assistant. Through her studies and time spent in the school environment, she quickly realized the demands children face daily, and more importantly, the detrimental effect it can have on a child when they are unable to cope with the pressure of these demands. The classroom requires skills rooted in academic competencies such as critical thinking, problem solving, knowledge application and creativity, as well as social skills such as teamwork and communication. Ultimately, children and young adults must be agile learners who can adapt and learn new things, taking information in, retaining it, and applying it later. This can only be achieved by acquiring the necessary skills and strategies to do so from a young age. Upon her return to South Africa, Madelein and her family were faced with the many challenges of adapting to yet another new environment. The questions at the forefront of her mind were, how can she help her own children to adapt and thrive in the new – and very different – schooling system, and at the same time, how can she prepare them for the demands, both academic and social, that they will be faced with as they each enter new phases of their lives. The answer to these questions came from Biolink. Madelein’s background in Psychology and her love for working with and helping children inspired her to open the doors of Biolink Durbanville, where she can offer support to children and young adults who struggle with the social and academic demands placed on them by providing them with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As a Learner Support Educator, I aspire to inspire and encourage children to be the best version of themselves, that they can possibly be. I hold B.Ed Foundation Phase (Cum Laude) and B.Hons Learner Support degrees (Cum Laude) from North West University, Potchefstroom Campus. During my 6 years of teaching, I’ve grown to believe that each and every person has the ability to reach their full potential when they are dedicated to doing so. I had also noticed that each year more children struggle to cope with the full academic program at school, and parents don’t know how to support them. When I first heard about Biolink, I truly felt that this was the solution to so many challenges that parents and children experience in this day and age. The support, understanding, and positivity of Biolink and its agents made me want to become part of the solution in supporting children and adults with these challenges. In other words, although life changes are inevitable, we can also initiate personal change so we can rise to the challenge and inspire others to do the same. You must be the change you want to see in the world. – Gandhi At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. Having a hearing impaired daughter taught me that all things are possible. She was diagnosed as deaf and dumb at the age of 3. In other word, she could not hear or speak. We could not just accept it and I stopped my studies and taught her to speak and with the aid of hearing aids she has limited hearing as well. I starting doing a lot of courses in different field on how to help my own daughter and later applied the same methods to my son. They went to the same primary school and my methods were used at their school. I loved working with the kids and did some courses on remedial reading and teaching. My husband was transferred to Ermelo and I started working as a relief lecturer at the local college. Both my children finished their schooling careers. I met Dr Brenda Steyn and our passion for children got us involved with Bio-Link. So after 6 years at the college I started working at Bio Link Brain Training. This was the most amazing part of my journey, as I saw how education and a side of the medical world come together and assist children and adults. Dr Brenda Steyn and I later became partners and together we work with a vast variety of adults and children. It is said that: "If you love your work, you'll never work a day in your life." So I have not worked a day in my last 7 years! Here at Ermelo we strive to make children become independent, happier, healthier and just themselves. We assist adults in helping and giving what their children need and become the best that they can be and or become.

I was born in Zambia but moved to South Africa as a baby. I grew up in Margate on the Natal South Coast and attended Port Shepstone High School, after which I did a Legal Secretarial Diploma, but this is not what I really wanted to do. I moved to Johannesburg, where I met my husband, and we have three children, two sons and a daughter, two of whom are teachers. In 1993 we moved to Botswana when my husband was offered a job in the diamond mines. It was here that I realised my passion for teaching and started working at a Creche. During this time, I studied through Unisa and earned my certificate in Early Childhood Development. I was offered a position at the mining school and worked as a pre-school teacher for ten years. I also did homeschooling and tutoring for children, some of whom had learning difficulties. Due to legislation, I was localised. Six years ago, I purchased my current business, a stationery/gift shop with a strong emphasis on educational aids, books, toys and stationery. My husband and I firmly believe that many children at different schools in Botswana need help and support, and when we heard that Biolink filled this role, we became very interested. We are now very excited about entering a new chapter in our lives.

Biolink is not my business, it is my story. This is my “passing it forward” to every parent that is desperate to see their child flourish and attain the level of success that they know that they are capable of. I’m an advocate for all the kids “bouncing off the walls” or “lacking focus and attention” and a solution for the parents looking for alternatives. My service will meet your faith in your child. How do I know? I was once that helpless mom, and BIOLINK met me at my most desperate moment when my child was labeled and prescribed. Refusing to become a statistic, through much research, more prayer, and many frustrating conversations, I arrived at a BIOLINK centrum and found a sympathetic ear and a workable strategy for my boy. Having tried many options, I was very skeptical at first and out to disprove the system, but the support and understanding I found in the facilitators encouraged me to persist. My young boy, who I believe is a creative visionary and story-teller, also enjoyed the classes (much to my surprise). Now my son is thriving. Not only was he able to focus and complete tasks without interruptions, but he is also far more confident, and now when his head is in the clouds, it is to develop a new lego construction. The point is he is himself, just more refined and structured, all thanks to the BIOLINK’s natural system of strengthening neuro pathways. BIOLINK offers your child confidence and being orientated to excel with their own giftings.

As an educator, who’s passion lies particularly with Special Needs children and learners with difficulties, Biolink offers me the perfect opportunity to provide first-class support to these individuals as well as to top achievers. Upon researching the Biolink program, and many others, I found Biolink to be unique and able to cater to such a wide range of learners. Being able to provide this world-leading technology to students of all ages and abilities in Zimbabwe is a privilege. Every day provides an opportunity to better a child’s educational experience and I love being a part of that. Louisa Beyer is the owner of Biolink Attention Training Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa since March 2014. It includes Gansbaai, Caledon as well as Kleinmond. As a former lecturer, I recognised the difficulty students experience to focus on the task at hand. In addition, their inability to exert essential information from their learning material led to poor results. I am sure that my ability to be patient but firm and my ability to encourage others adds to the success of my clients. There is nothing more rewarding for me personally to see a child becoming successful in different areas of his/her life and the positive impact it has on a family as such. My careers taught me the importance of helping others to reach their full potential. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. I am Natasha Pieterse and I am the proud owner of Biolink Krugersdorp since 2018. I am also a paediatric optometrist who has a special interest in visual therapy as well as Dyslexia. When I discovered Biolink, I knew that my young patients would benefit from the world’s #1 Neurocognitive Training Program. I see myself as someone who is creative, caring, and sincere and I aspire to be known as the person who always wants to help others, even if it is just by being there for a chat. Biolink offers me the platform to help children who struggle with academics as well as social and behavioural issues. We also develop the skills and knowledge of parents, to actively support and guide their children. I believe that every child deserves the chance for a bright future, and every parent deserves the chance to see their child thrive. To see my students grow and to excel makes my heart swell and I love to celebrate their success. Our program is 100% individualised and customised for every student. As a Biolink agent, I have learned that neurocognitive feedback technology not only assists learners with improving executive function skills, but it also changes perceptions and attitudes and this is how I see my role – to uplift and empower individuals, no matter their age. As an optometrist, I have the privilege to meet numerous people and the biggest lesson that I have learned in my work life is that we can learn at least one thing from anyone you come in contact with. This in itself has added great value to my life. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. I was working in the insurance industry for 27 years but always felt like there was something more waiting for me. One morning in 2012 I saw Biolink on Kyknet’s Ontbytsake and I immediately knew that’s what I want to do – working with children. As I’ve always loved children and had been a Sunday school teacher for a couple of years, I knew I had a special connection with them. Now I experience that same love from my students that will make me do this for many years to come. “Do what you love – love what you do” has become true for me. At Biolink Attention Training, you don’t only see how their self-image improves, but also how they become happy children with happy parents. Here they are important, listened to, respected, and loved. They are winners and will be successful. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. Alisha Potgieter is a BEd Hons qualified teacher and was in a Grade 7 classroom for five years. She has seen the effects of concentration difficulties in the classroom situation first-hand. During her teaching career, she has spoken to many parents whose children were on medication and were desperate to find an alternative that didn’t have such an adverse effect on their children. She believes that it is important for the parents to have options. Studies show that people are struggling more than ever before to cope with the academic-, social- and behavioural challenges of the 21st century. This impacts their ability to reach their full potential in the school and work environments. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer answers, solutions, support, and hope for children and adults that struggle with concentration difficulties, learning disorders, and other academic challenges. Our goal is to take hands with the community by offering knowledge and support through educational resources, research materials, and a wide variety of workshops that can be used in the classroom and at work or home. We also provide resources and training towards the continuous professional development of teachers as part of the requirements set by the South African Council of Educators. We want to empower teachers to use classroom strategies that support learners with neurodiverse needs and help parents take on an active role in their children’s education. As Jonathan Martensson rightly said, “Success will never be a big step in the future; success is a small step taken right now.”

I grew up with my sights set on becoming a special needs educator. Then life happened. As my journey unraveled, I became a qualified Pharmacist Assistant at Cuyler Hospital Pharmacy in Uitenhage. Using the opportunity to assist and support members of my community in need of advice or just a simple gesture of affection. Although this chapter of my life was fulfilling, it could still not quench the desire to work with children with special needs. My sister introduced me to Biolink. At first, the plan God had for me was not that clear. But after I started researching the type of attention training, the puzzle was complete, and I found the piece to my dream I was searching for. I saw the impact Biolink had on the lives of children and wanted to be a part of the positive difference. I would be in the fortunate position to materialize the love I have for children in need of special care and even children who just need a little more time to bloom. I will use Biolink as the path to accomplish my lifelong hunger to grow as I go, with great love and respect, and inspire every heart I touch. Estelle's got a degree in Psychology from UNISA and has always had a soft spot for helping and understanding kids. She believes each child is a one-of-a-kind creation, and it's our job as grown-ups to tap into their unique potential. What really drew Estelle to Biolink was the FOCUS test, which helps parents and teachers understand why a child behaves and thinks the way they do. It's not that they're a "problem child," it's that the adults in their life might not have all the information they need. That's where Biolink comes in! At Biolink, we're all about providing comprehensive answers, solutions, and support for kids and grown-ups with ADHD or Executive Function Challenges. We believe in working together with parents, teachers, and the child to make sure every kiddo can reach their full potential. We think that parents should have a clear role in the school system, and teachers should be inspiring leaders. That's why we're all about empowering parents and teachers with workshops, webinars, and the tools to understand each child's unique gifts.

Our Biolink journey has been a personal one. We have seen first-hand the amazing difference it has made to the confidence and abilities of children we know! Our two girls have also enjoyed the opportunity of participating in this attention training program and have benefitted tremendously from it. As all parents do, we too want the very best for our children. With the countless distractions, pressures, and academic demands on children these days we feel that the importance of focus and attention cannot be emphasised enough. Biolink offers all students, regardless of academic ability, the chance to develop their skills and build their confidence. Our dream for Biolink Pietermaritzburg is to be a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where each child is treated like one of our own and where we go the extra mile to offer the guidance and support to enable each boy and girl to become the very best student they can be. We feel privileged to have the opportunity to change and shape little (and big!) minds with Biolink. The support, understanding, and positivity of Biolink and its agents made me want to become part of the solution in supporting children and adults with these challenges.

As a qualified teacher, I became more and more aware of the need for children with concentration, reading, and learning difficulties to develop cognitive skills to improve concentration and focus. As we – as parents and educators alike – are all aware, without the necessary skills to master the basics of reading, comprehension, and dedicated concentration, success as a scholar and achieving high results are practically impossible. My love for children inspired me to want to make a change in these children’s lives, not only to help them acquire the knowledge and skills to reach their full potential but also to bolster their self-confidence, their belief in themselves and to assist them to ultimately be fully functional and educated adults. I believe that my background as an educator is advantageous and will assist me to recognise additional shortcomings linked to teaching and learning. I will, therefore, be able to adapt my classes to address the areas where Biolink could make a difference and to also assist and alleviate some of the pressures which teachers experience in the classroom. Through Biolink Attention Training in Uitenhage, I wish to reach children from all socio and economic backgrounds and to re-awaken a love for learning. My academic background includes a BA Human Movement Science degree which I completed at the University of Pretoria in 2004. I obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and as an additional qualification, I did a 2-year course acquiring a Therapeutic Reflexology Diploma, focusing on enabling patients to develop and progress to a healthier lifestyle. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. We also provide resources and training toward the continuous professional development of teachers, as required by the South African Council of Educators. Sandra Fouché is an Occupational Therapist who obtained her degree in 1991 from the University of Stellenbosch. She started working at a private practice in Vredendal and eventually owned the practice. Her specialty is in pediatrics and she also offers the services of a Speech Therapist and an after-school care centre at her practice. During her years of working with children, she realised that there is a large increase in children with concentration problems and that parents are looking for alternative answers. Therefore, she decided to start her own Biolink Attention Training centre. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. We also provide resources and training toward the continuous professional development of teachers, as required by the South African Council of Educators. Biolink Attention Training Vanderbijlpark opened our doors in 2015. As a qualified Kinderkineticist with a passion for working with children with perceptual motor skills, concentration, reading, and learning difficulties, I started incorporating Biolink within my practice and immediately saw the extra value that Biolink can offer to these individuals and children in my practice. Our dynamic team consists of five therapists whose main objective is to build the confidence and skills of the children and parents we work with. We understand that these parents have had a difficult and lonely journey, but luckily, we are able to also support and encourage them through our workshops. Biolink Vanderbijlpark won the 2017 “Agency of the Year” award at the annual Biolink Head Office conference. At Biolink Attention Training, we offer support, hope, answers, and solutions for children and adults with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges. Wilma Jansen-Viljoen achieved her degree in Occupational Therapy in Heerlen, The Netherlands in 2009. Her specialisation in her final year was Psychiatry and this has remained a passion for her ever since. After graduating, Wilma worked in a Psychiatric Institution in The Netherlands where she also worked in Forensic Psychiatry. I'm a positive and energetic individual with a passion for children and their development. I'm also a Montessori teacher and I find special interest in early childhood development and learning difficulties. My youngest sister was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age and her journey and my parents' determination has inspired me to equip children with the right tools and skill set to reach their full potential. I whole heartedly agree with the following quote by Maria Montessori: " Free the child's potential and you will transform him into the world". My first encounter with Biolink was in 2018 when I worked for Tanya and Attie Byleveldt as a coach while completing my degree. The technology and advanced, unique program amazed me and I enjoyed being part of every child's journey. In 2021 my path crossed with Biolink once again. I've been working as the manager and executive functioning coach since January 2022. Attie and Tanya has given me the wonderful opportunity to take over the Windhoek branch and I am excited to build on their hard work and continue to provide support, hope, answers and solutions for children struggling with ADHD and other learning disorders or academic challenges.
